Muslims assured of security during Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar in which Muslims observe one month fasting.

He said the new moon was sighted in various places across the country that includeed Sokoto, Niger, Yobe, Port Harcourt, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa and other areas.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramzan.

He also enjoined Muslims to remember the nation in fervent prayer, noting that, "this period in our nation calls for our collective and individual prayers for the fulfilment of our aspirations and desires as a country and as citizens".

During the month of Ramadan, Muslims offer prayers (Salat), recite the Quran and do good deeds.
