South Korea hails North's pledge to dismantle N-test site

The United States is offering assurances to North Korea's Kim Jong Un as it seeks to put in motion the potential for a sweeping nuclear deal.

24-hours ago, North Korea set a time-line for the destruction of nuclear bomb sites in the country.

New commercial satellite imagery has provided the first definitive evidence that North Korea is dismantling its Punggye-ri nuclear test site ahead of a scheduled ceremony next week to mark the event, US researchers said Monday.

"North Korea has announced that they will dismantle Nuclear Test Site this month, ahead of the big Summit Meeting on June 12th", he tweeted.

Of all the countries in the region - Japan, North and South Korea - China has the most to gain by preventing a war. Then, entries to the site will be blocked and all observation facilities, research institutes and guard structures will be removed.

The two largest buildings at the command center and the main administrative support area remained intact, and no tunnel entrances appear to have been permanently closed, 38 North said.

Located in mountainous terrain in the northeast of the country, Punggye-ri is less than 100 miles (160 kilometers) from China.

The site was used for each of its six underground nuclear test explosions.

Recall that U.S. Secretary of state Mike Pompeo visited Pyongyang.

Trump's decision to exit nuclear deal amplifies widespread anger in Iran
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif sets off on Saturday for talks in China, Russia and Europe to see what can be salvaged. Responding to a question, Bolton said that the leadership of the previous Obama administration lied to the American people.

Fears over North Korea's relationship with the West have caused various indices - including the U.S. 500, FTSE 100 and Japan 225 - to fall on several occasions over the last nine months. Believing we can "denuclearize" North Korea is probably not realistic in any case.

South Korea's president on Monday welcomed the announcement as the beginning of North Korea's nuclear disarmament. North Korea is desperately in need of energy for their people. "If North Korea has really made a decision to denuclearise, it has no reason not to invite them". Two of the North Korean missiles passed over the Japanese island of Hokkaido.

"We hope the sound of the dynamite blowing up the tunnels at Punggye-ri will be the first salute in our journey towards a nuclear-free Korean peninsula", the South's presidential spokesman said.

As a result, we have gained a certain degree of clarity regarding Trump's stance on the upcoming talks between the United States and North Korea, and on where the United States stands with regard to its protectionist trade policies, as typified by the recent tariff hike.

Pompeo has demanded the "complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearization" of North Korea before the United States offers any easing of economic sanctions on Pyongyang.

During a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron last month, Trump called Kim "very open and very honorable". Now, the Trump administration is using the negotiations as a way of saying it's better than the previous ones.

The meeting between Moon and Kim resulted in few specifics and was largely seen as a prelude to the first-ever U.S. Mr Pompeo returned with three freed USA detainees, the latest in the North's diplomatic overtures.

"We are starting off on a new footing - I really think we have a very good chance of doing something very meaningful".

Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do.
