"Block 5 is designed for 10 or more flights with very limited refurbishment but should be capable of additional flights with further testing and possible additional refurbishment", SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell told Aviation Week and Space Technology magazine. A delay to Friday would see a drop to 60 percent favorable for the same reason. SpaceX engineers have also included extra shielding at the base of the rocket to protect the booster's propulsion systems as they reenter the atmosphere.
The new first stage is covered in a thermal protective coating rather than ordinary white paint.
-Retractable black landing legs, compared to the Block 4's white ones. If the "unequivocal intent" of the upgraded rocket's design translates into operational reality over the next several months, Musk frankly stated that the vehicle will be the most reliable rocket ever built while simultaneously paving the way to aircraft-like reusability and a price floor as low as $5-6 million per launch. On the Thursday call with reporters, Musk said both the efficiency and thrust of the rocket engine have increased. The purpose-built reliable and reusable vehicle is further meant to be capable of as many as ten launches with "literally no action taken between flights", a "ridiculously hard" technological achievement only possible through a decade and a half of "extreme effort".

Falcon 9 and its three-core sibling, Falcon Heavy, will fill the gap and help fund research and development until BFR's debut. Previous ones included Turkmenistan's TurkmenAlem satellite in April 2015 and Bulgaria's Bulgariasat-1 in June 2017. The satellite is expected to expand communication capabilities across Bangladesh and in India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Indonesia.
