Apple Releases Minor iOS 11.3.1 Update for iPhone and iPad

(NASDAQ:AAPL) rumor mill today is news of iOS 11.3.1 launching.

In a research note by Neil Campling to clients, the Mirabaud Securities analyst wrote that "The iPhone X is dead".

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with KGI Securities, said in March that the Cupertino-headquartered company would cease production of iPhone X mid-year. Apple plans to cease production of the iPhone X line, including its new models, according to Campling in a note to clients obtained by CNBC.

More than a third of the respondents said that the iPhone X, which starts at $999, is too expensive.

Apple has promised to fix some bugs and improve the performance through the newest iOS update. The iPhone X's ambient light sensor will also stop functioning if the screen is replaced by anyone but Apple, even if the screen is an official part. "Frankly, the whole thing sounds ridiculous". This is because the users who were experiencing the issue got their devices repaired from non-official fix shops, others who got their device repaired from the authorized stores didn't experience any issue. (Both versions of iOS were released during the September before the stats were pulled.) Apple didn't respond to a request for comment. The app wasn't optimized for the larger 5.8-inch edge-to-edge display.

Apple in a statement said that they have fixed the issue with the iOS update 11.3.1 but also warned people about using the third party fix shops for iPhone.

Campling is expecting Apple to introduce new sets of iPhones priced at around $500, including an iPhone model with provisions for two SIM cards - a very popular choice in the Asian market and for business. When they are available, they're accompanied by an astronomical price tag. The company's hardware ecosystem, like the Apple Watch and AirPods, give much better reasons to buy an Apple phone than the latest features on the phone itself.
