Two lawsuits were filed in Texas, where Jones is based. The parents are seeking $1 million in damages from Jones and his company Infowars and Free Speech Systems LLC.
A gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, on December 14, 2012, in an attack that ranks among the five deadliest mass shootings by a single gunman in USA history.
In the five years since the Sandy Hook shooting, Infowars host Alex Jones has repeatedly labeled the Sandy Hook massacre a hoax involving actors, ran a segment last April called "Sandy Hook Vampires Exposed", and accused CNN and Anderson Cooper of using a green screen to stage scenes.
Despite the lawsuits, conspiracy-laden articles and videos relating to Sandy Hook continue to appear on the Infowars site and YouTube channel. InfoWars reporter Owen Shroyer, also named in the lawsuit, claimed that could not be true because the bodies were identified by the parents through photographs. He had killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, in her bed before driving the short distance to the school. "They glitch", Jones said, per a transcript of the show in the lawsuit.

"I held my child having a bullet hole through his thoughts", Mr. Heslin educated me.
Jones later took umbrage with this statement claiming that: "Quite frankly, the father (Heslin) needs to clarify, NBC needs to clarify, because the coroner said none of the parents were allowed to touch the kids or see the kids and maybe meaning at the school".
"Even after these folks had to experience this trauma, for the next five years they were tormented by Alex Jones with vicious lies about them", Mark Bankston, the lawyer for both cases, told the Huffington Post.
Jones has used his considerable reach to bring these notions and qualms to a wider audience, becoming a figurehead for fringe hypothoses that have mostly prospered on Internet forums.
