Pacquiao says no decision yet on trainer for Matthysse fight

Argentine world welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse doesn't intend to knock Manny Pacquiao out on July 15 in Malaysia.

"Contrary to statements which I personally did not make that are circulating in the media, I have not made my final decision who will be my head trainer for my July 14 fight with Matthyse", said 'The Pacman'.

Pacquiao has not fought in the ring since being defeated on points by Australia's Jeff Horn in Brisbane in July, a loss that cost the Filipino star his WBO crown.

Since then, Pacquiao and Roach have partnered and scored many unforgettable wins, notably against Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Two weeks ago it was apparent that Roach was out even though nothing had been made official when Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's longtime adviser, told ESPN, "Manny has told me Buboy will be handling the training on this fight".

The veteran USA ring guru Roach said last week that his 15-year association with Pacquiao, who has won world titles in an unprecedented eight weight divisions, had been terminated ahead of the Matthysse bout in Malaysia.

And in the third, young pacer Mavi castled Gautam Gambhir for his maiden wicket and reduced Daredevils to 24/3 in three overs. Yadav then struck by claiming the risky Rishabh Pant when he and Glen Maxwell were threatening to take the game away.

"Manny and I had a great run for [16] years - longer than most marriages and certainly a rarity for boxing", Roach said. I wouldn't trade any of it. Nevertheless, for all that he is a tough old campaigner, Roach was surprised and offended - but gracious - when Pacquiao looked to be walking away from a partnership that began at the Wild Card Boxing gym in Hollywood in 2001.

It is widely thought that 2018 will be the final time Manny Pacquiao steps into the pro boxing ring.

"I would be lying if I didn't say I wasn't hurt that he didn't contact me personally about his decision", Roach said in a statement. "I don't know if he was upset with me or what".

With this latest news, it's safe to say that Roach has gotten his answer. "But I will defend my title with honor and represent my country, Argentina, with pride".

"It is all systems go for the Pacquiao vs. Matthysse fight", Pacquiao said.
