Nationals-Harper's Broken-Bat HR

Harper shattered his bat and was left with just a few inches of the stump but still managed to hit a solo homer over the fence in right field on Monday night in NY. On Monday night he hit his MLB-leading eighth home run of the season, despite breaking his bat.

That swing that left Harper holding just the handle of his bat deposited the baseball 406 feet later over the right-center field wall at Citi Field to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.

We have a feeling it won't be long before Harper takes the baseball world by storm with another highlight-reel play.

And in the third, young pacer Mavi castled Gautam Gambhir for his maiden wicket and reduced Daredevils to 24/3 in three overs. Yadav then struck by claiming the risky Rishabh Pant when he and Glen Maxwell were threatening to take the game away.

Harper is now up to eight home runs this season, which means nearly any time he touches the ball it goes over the fence. This was the 2015 NL MVP's second homer in as many games.

I've never seen a broken bat home run quite like this before though.

New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom did his job in the first inning of Monday's game.
