In a first such case that has come to light, an Armyman, who had been missing since last week, has joined terror outfit Hizbul Mujahedeen in South Kashmir's Shopian district, police said here on Monday. The officer also added the two other locals who had also gone missing, joined Hizbul along Mir. A photograph of Idrees Sultan Mir wielding an assault rifle has surfaced on social media. The soldier, according to the picture, joined the Hizbul Mujahideen on Sunday.According to the picture, Idrees has studied till BSc second year and was serving in the Army's 12 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) in Bihar. His father, Mohammed Sultan Mir, approached the police on Monday morning and reported his son missing. Mir was to be posted to Jharkhand and was unhappy about the move, a PTI report said. Mir reportedly joined Hizbul Mujahideen on Sunday. The Army maintains that he has been "missing" and has no confirmation about his joining the terror outfit.
"Today afternoon terrorists opened fire in Shopian which resulted in injuries to one civilian identified as Rafiq Lone and a policeman identified as Bilal Ahmad", a police spokesman said.
Alfie Evans' family dealt fresh court blow
Alfie, from Bootle, Merseyside, has been at Alder Hey since December 2016 with an undiagnosed degenerative brain disease. The judge said detail of that plan could not be revealed because Alfie was entitled to privacy at the end of his life.
Police said they are investigating his phone records and other activities to ascertain if he was in touch with anyone with terror links.
The injured were evacuated to hospital for treatment, he said.
