José Mourinho says Manchester United semi-final places are up for grabs

Jose Mourinho applauded Manchester City's Premier League title success, but lambasted Manchester United after West Bromwich Albion's shock 1-0 win on Sunday.

Admitting some of his players were still on the moon celebrating the win over local rivals Manchester City the week earlier.

"Rotating is not the right word", Mourinho said. Instead, the suggestion heading into the club's fifth last game of the top flight campaign, away to Bournemouth on Wednesday night, is that there are places up for grabs in an FA Cup semi-final.

Responding to a Telegraph article which suggested that Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez might be dropped ahead of the Red Devils' FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham, Neville tweeted a fairly straightforward "Good!".

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is fed-up with the lack of recognition his team has been granted this season.

Mourinho added: "What is the criteria for a manager to choose a team?"

"I know that you don't want to read anything after a defeat like this one, that any comments made after the game sound like hollow words. Or do you want me to go for the price they cost, or their salary, or their lovely face?" "The only way is to go with performance".

How much would it take to get Pogba from United?

"I think he gets frustrated at times because the build-up play from United is methodical, but only because teams are sitting back".

After a man-of-the-match display in the Manchester derby, Mourinho urged Pogba to show more consistency in training and games. By losing lots of balls with turnings, flicks and tricks, the midfield players and central defenders are at risk: one late challenge, and they are out.

In his post match interview, he said: "I will tell you what I told [Pogba] after the [City] match and it's exactly what I told him - I don't expect you to be man of the match every week, I don't expect you to score two goals every week".

Mourinho's difficulty is that at its best the City team still somehow looks as though it amounts to more than the sum of its expensively assembled parts.

Manchester United will allow four of their first-team squad to depart Old Trafford this summer including Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian.
