Explosion outside Indian Embassy camp office in Biratnagar


Biratnagar: A bomb explosion has been reported near an Indian Embassy in Biratnagar, Nepal.

The Camp Office was targeted in the blast that occurred on Monday night at around 8:15 PM, District Police Office, Morang¿s Chief SP Arun Kumar BC informed.

A bomb that exploded outside an Indian diplomatic post in southern Nepal caused damage and drew attention for being a rare attack on a foreign mission, officials said.

"A minor explosion took place along the rear boundary wall of the Camp Office of Embassy of India in Biratnagar, at about 2015 hrs on 16 April 2018. The security authorities in Nepal are investigating the matter". According to reports, the officers investigating the case have suspected some members of a local political group are behind the cause of the explosion. "No one has been injured in the incident", Kumar said. The party had called a general strike in Biratnagar yesterday. The spokesperson added: "Our embassy in Kathmandu is in touch with the government of Nepal".

The security in the blast site and around office premises has been upped after the blast. The Indian consulate office was shifted here after floods struck Nepal.

Biratnagar is the industrial capital of Nepal and is from a distance of 6 kilometres from the border of north Bihar.
