One taken to hospital following house fire

Around 4:30 p.m. crews were dispatched to the 1500 block of Fair Oaks Court for a report of a structure fire. "It was unknown at the time whether anyone was inside".

A woman has died following a Saturday evening house fire in Akron's Middlebury neighborhood, east of downtown, officials say.

Authorities said the home was almost destroyed.

Authorities said a man who lived there jumped out of the window to escape. The man's wife was found to have been visiting with her adult daughter.

Two dogs were rescued from the blaze. No injuries were reported.
