At the 65th National Film Awards, late actor Vinod Khanna was posthumously honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The "gentleman" actor, known for his good looks and an enviable body of work, died on April 27 past year. Bollywood icon Sridevi, who died in Dubai in February this year, won the National Film Award for Best Actress for revenge drama MOM while Vinod Khanna was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award nearly a year after he passed away.
While announcing the recipient of India's highest film award, the National Film Awards jury mentioned Khanna's work. Baahubali: The Conclusion won many awards including the best popular film providing wholesome entertainment.
Jayaraj was named the best director and the best adapted screenplay writer for his Malayalam film "Bhayanakam".
Kapur told the media here on Friday that he wishes he had worked with Vinod Khanna at least once. The film won Best Cinematography as well.

AR Rahman took away the best music direction award for songs in Tamil movie "Kaatru Veliyidai" and for background music in Sridevi-starrer Hindi film 'Mom.' Each of the two awards carries a Rajat Kamal and a cheque of Rs 50,000. It is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It was also recognised as the best film in Jasari langauge.
Fahad Fazil won the best supporting actor for the Malayalam film "Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum". It was also recognised as the best Odiya film.
Best female playback singer award went to Shashaa Tirupati, an Indian origin Canadian playback singer, for her son "Vaan" in Tamil movie Kaatru Veliyidai while the best male playback singer award went to KJ Yasudas for his song "Poy Maranja Kalam" in Malayalam film 'Viswasapoorvam Mansoor'. Ganesh Acharya has won the award for Best Choreography for the song Goli Tu Lath maar in Toilet Ek Prem Katha. Best Actor Award goes to Riddhi Sen for Nagarkirtan. In the same category, Marathi Film, Morkhya; Oriya Film, Hello Mirror and Malayalam actor Parvathy, for Take Off were also awarded.
