Several communities around Metro Detroit have issued winter weather alerts overnight into Sunday as storms continue in the area.
The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a winter weather advisory for Cortland County.
"Rain will slowly change over to freezing rain or sleet, from north to south, and from higher elevations down to the valleys, during the day Saturday", the weather service said.
Freezing rain will overspread our central and southern sections, including the Madison region, through the evening and overnight with a tenth to a quarter inch of ice accumulation expected.
Officials said drivers should slow down and be cautious on the slippery roads. "Primarily freezing rain or sleet is anticipated Saturday night into Sunday".

Scattered power outages and tree damage are possible at times due to ice accumulation.
