Petrol bomb hurled at BJP functionary's house in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore

Precisely two weeks after the petrol bomb attack on BJP office in Coimbatore, miscreants targeted the house of party's district president C.R. Nandakumar in the early hours of Wednesday.

A petrol bomb was thrown on the auto of BJP district secretary in Coimbatore. The miscreants who were on a two-wheeler flung a petrol bomb at Nandakumar's house at around 3 am Wednesday, March 21 but luckily none of the family members were injured during the attack. As per police reports, miscreants initially poured fuel on the vehicle parked at the porch of the house and later threw a projectile. The cops had scanned the CCTV footage incident to get leads in the incident.

Following the information, Police Commissioner K Periaiah and Deputy Commissioner S Lakshmi visited the slop and carried out the investigation. Reacting to the reports of BJP leader's house being attacked, BJP Tamil Nadu president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said that she condemns the cowardly attack. According to police, two petrol bombs were thrown at the BJP office on VKK Menon road.

He was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after the shock incident at Star City leisure complex in Birmingham. In a statement from operator Vue International, the cinema said the man died on 16 March, a week after the incident.

Police suspect that the attack on the house could be a retaliatory action to the vandalism of statues of leaders, including Periyar or against the VHP's Rath Yatra in the state.

Soon after the incident took place, police officers were deployed in the area to prevent any further attacks.

Police said they were verifying the CCTV footage obtained from the cameras installed in the area.
