United did manage to secure their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup but are well off the pace set by runaway Premier League leaders and close rivals Manchester City.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was irked with the team's performance against Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Mourinho has had a turbulent relationship with the £30 million signing during his time at Old Trafford, and appears to have doubts over the England worldwide.

Shaw has had his chances but now it seems to be the end of the road following a dismal showing, in Mourinho's eyes, in United's FA Cup victory over Brighton.

Scott McTominay was singled out for criticism, with Mourinho claiming the 21-year-old academy graduate had played "played the worst match" since his promotion to the first team squad.
