G Norwell to sign 5-year deal with Jaguars

Former Carolina Panthers lineman Andrew Norwell intends to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a five-year contract worth $66.5 million, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.

The NFL rumors have been swirling around free agency, especially the future of offensive guard Andrew Norwell and where he will play in 2018. Former Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman was attempting to lure Norwell to the Giants as part of a rebuilt offensive line. He spent the first four years of his career in Carolina.

However, in the end, the Bears have ultimately turned to the free agent market - which means not giving up running back Jordan Howard - in order to help soon-to-be second-year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

The expected deal will guarantee Norwell $30 million and on average make him the NFL's most well-paid guard. As it stands today, he has started 54 of the 55 regular-season contests in the National Football League.

Norwell immediately solidifies the left side of the Jacksonville line that already had Cam Robinson at left tackle.

The Colts number one priority should be protecting Luck when he returns next season, and it appears they are trying to do just that by making a push for Norwell.
