This Is Us wrapped its second season Tuesday with Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) exchanging "I dos" at the Pearson family cabin with the whole family present - including patriarch Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), despite the fact that he died two decades ago. She has one more chat and tells him that she knows Toby is ideal for her and that he'd probably agree. Meanwhile, Kevin (Justin Hartley) is in wedding planner mode. She wants to get some for her wedding. They talk about how he was severely depressed after his first marriage broke down. Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) were in charge of delivering Kate her flawless day because it was what Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) would have given her. How she made them miserable until one day she forgot to hate them. If Zoe is half as tough and loving as Beth, she is exactly the kind of person that Kevin needs to keep him focus and get his life on track.
Kate and Toby's flash-forward revealed that in a year Toby is going to fall into another deep depression.
Though "This Is Us" always makes people emotional, teenage Kate actress Hannah Zeile warned that it would be a hopeful finale. She tells her how her mom dumped her off at Beth's house when she was young. They do eventually find her at the tree stump after she's spread Jack's ashes. In that episode, Deja's (Lyric Ross) mother declared that she needed to leave her daughter. This is clearly a trip to help Kevin connect to his father, but it's interesting that Beth's cousin is his new girl. "It's time to go see her, Tess", Randall says.
This is Us, which loves a cliffhanger as it much as it loves to wallow in the memory of Jack Pearson, purposely didn't tell us.
What Does the Future Hold? Kevin meets Beth's lovely, smart and wise cousin Zoe at Kate and Toby's wedding. Because we were shooting it at the family cabin, I was like, 'Oh dear, we can't have such a long train because it's dirty out there!' So we did have a bit of a train and they did something really handsome where they bustled the train a bit, and ended up shortening it, but the dress was actually really heavy because it's beaded and handmade and couture, literally hand made.
Two emotional toasts and several nail-biting moments later, This Is Us fans can finally start throwing some rice in the air; Kate and Toby are officially married. But rather than rail against her mother, she now sees her as inspiration, someone to hopefully become in her own way. This sets Deja off, who then takes a bat to Randall's auto.
Stephanie Skipper on The Voice Tells Kelly Clarkson "Don't Apologize"
Below is all the information you need to watch The Voice online or live Tuesday in order to find out who will complete the season. Kelly and Blake have been putting their playful banter on full display during Season 14, which debuted on NBC earlier this month.
Season 2 of This Is Us was full of highs and lows. "If anyone is a walking reminder of Jack, it's me", he says. Not only did we get to see a lot of the past and what has shaped the lives of the Big Three, but we also got to glimpse into the future of the Pearsons.
The episode opens on a wedding - but not Kate's. For answers on why old Jack was seen in the finale, read our recap.
Toby and Kate got hitched on the "This Is Us" season 2 finale, but a flash forward dropped some serious bombshells.
"You will know why I am in aged Jack makeup, "Milo Ventimiglia told ET's Leanne Aguilera on Monday at the South by Southwest finale presentation in Austin, Texas". Do you think Toby's parents are right about Kate being unstable? And like Randall and Beth, the millions of Americans who watch this show still somehow feel better by spending their time considering how all of life's very bad things might come to pass. As for Season 3, Zeile says the writers are already hard at work brainstorming new ideas to get viewers emptying their tear ducts and keeping Kleenex in business - especially now that the elephant in the room (or, how Jack dies) has finally been addressed. For the most part, that change was for the better because, while This Is Us can't be accused of trafficking in realism, it was a little more real in the way it handled issues such as racism, pregnancy, and the process of fostering a child.
