Google Duo chat app gets video voicemail feature

It looks like their newest guinea pig is to add the ability to send money on Google Contacts through the Google Pay Send app.

"Starting today, Duo users can send a video message to their friend or family member, who will receive it in the Duo app".

This infuriates many Colombians , in particular the right wing, which is vowing to win the presidential election and amend the peace deal.

Google will allow users to record a 30-second "video message", when they are unable to accept a call, or if the call gets declined. With video messages on Google Duo, users can now capture and share important moments, even when the receiver can't take the call. After watching the video message, the receiver may tap the "Call now" button to instantly call the sender. However, the receiver has the option of saving favourites locally to his/her phone. In all likelihood, this new feature was enabled via server-side switch while the UI is similar to the one on the Android Messages. Soon after the video is played, the "Call Back" option will be available for users to reconnect with their contacts. All said and done this is a nifty little feature for Google Pay users.

Similar to all calls made on Google Duo, video messages are also secure and end-to-end encrypted. That being said the "Request Money" option seems to be absent as of now, but the same was observed earlier in an apk teardown. Tapping on that will prompt you to send money to which number or email.
