Philips Hue, the smart lighting system that can be set to any of millions of colors and be controlled with your voice and smartphone, is expanding to include outdoor lighting options.
The company on Monday introduced a new line of Hue outdoor lighting products, including wall-mounted luminaries, spot lighting, and pillar posts.
Philips teased back in January that it would be launching outdoor Hue lights later in the year, and it has now provided details of the products - including pricing and availability. "While Philips Hue bulbs and luminaires are available for every area inside your home, we wanted to traverse the threshold and offer connected luminaires designed for outside areas".
Like all Philips Hue products, the Philips Hue outdoor range is fully compatible with the Philips Hue ecosystem and works in the same way as the indoor range. Global Positioning System smarts also mean that you'll be able to set your outdoor lights to automatically come on as you approach your home. "You can also select one of 16 million light colors to elevate your home's look or create the ideal outdoor ambiance, whether you're just relaxing or hosting family and friends for a barbeque".

Arms imports by Egypt grew by 215 per cent over the past ten years, making it now the third-largest importer in the world. In fact, Indian arms imports have increased in the past five years, despite a continued push for indigenous production.
First up, the big hitter is the Philips Hue Lily, which comes as a starter pack consisting of three spotlights and is designed "to highlight design features in your garden and illuminate flower beds and plants", like the image up top.

Like other Hue bulbs, you can set up lighting routines and schedules, control them remotely, and they support Apple's HomeKit platform. The Hue white and color ambiance range is based on a plug and play system, making installation easy and allowing for full flexibility to position wherever you need light.
Meanwhile, the Lily spotlight will retail for $279/€299, and the Calla bollard will go on sale for $139/€139. You can also screw the new, wet-rated Philips Hue White PAR38 light bulb (MSRP $29.99 each or $49.99 for a two-pack, 1300 lumens) into existing outdoor fixtures that use a PAR38 bulb.
