Air Canada computer issues cause congestion at some airports


Air Canada confirmed things were back online on Twitter Monday afternoon.

And this years March Break just got even more stressful for those flying with Air Canada.

The company apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience.

According to one woman at the airport who is supposed to be heading to Kamloops, there were "thousands" of frustrated people waiting in line to check in for their Air Canada flights at YVR.

Air Canada customers in Canada and overseas took to Twitter to complain of long lines, flight delays and other travel disruptions because of the computer problems.

Air Canada is also increasing the frequency of its flights from Calgary to Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Phoenix, and from Vancouver to Phoenix and Palm Springs.

Passengers were being checked in manually at airports across the country including Calgary and that caused a few lineups and delays. Reports are coming in from travellers worldwide, saying their Air Canada planes have been grounded.

Michael Badejo, spokesperson with the Winnipeg Airports Authority, said four flights have been delayed, affecting about 200 people.
