OH 7th grader shoots himself on middle school campus


School officials are working on an orderly dismissal.

Mom said she immediately called the police and found out that the lockdown at the school was very real.

Police in OH say a 7th-grader apparently brought a gun to school and shot himself inside a bathroom.

Students are in the process of being released to their parents.

During Tuesday's shooting at Jackson Memorial Middle School in Massillon several frightened students feared the worst, they didn't know what was going on. "Safety Services are on the scene at this time", the Jackson Local Schools District said in a statement posted on its website.

School superintendent Chris DiLoreto said that all four elementary schools are closed and high school students are in the process of being evacuated.

The boy was taken to a local hospital and his condition was unknown, police said.

"I'm hoping he's still alive..." He told her he wants to be cremated if he doesn't make it out of the school alive. "I just felt really scared".

Students were being released to their parents, who had gathered outside the school to reunite with their children, WKYC reported.

"Sad that he had to experience this tragedy", she said.
