PM Modi meets ailing Goa CM Parrikar in Mumbai hospital


A formal statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said that Parrikar was in Mumbai for a "routine check-up".

The Goa Chief Minister was admitted in the Mumbai hospital on February 15.

However, according to a senior official of the assembly the chief minister might not attend the assembly.

Sources in the Goa BJP also said that Mr. Parrikar was not likely to attend the budget session. Earlier, there were rumours floating around that the former defence minister was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer and undergoing treatment for the same.

Mumbai: The condition of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is being treated for mild pancreatitis, is fine and he is under observation, a source close to him said on Saturday.

He said the CM is returning on Sunday and will present the Budget. South Goa MP and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Narendra Savoikar said Parrikar's treatment is headed in the "right direction" and he will continue his treatment in Mumbai on medical advice. However, he needs sufficient time to recover and be focused on the treatment. "We all pray for his speedy recovery", Sawaikar said.
