The U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee voted on Thursday to release to the public testimony from the founder of the Fusion GPS firm, which researched President Donald Trump's ties to Russian Federation and produced a dossier denounced by the White House.

"Specific lines of inquiry" into the GOP presidential candidate "were a lot of Mr. Trump's overseas business deals, his history with regard to tax disputes" and labor practices with his clothing line. Trump has long denied those allegations and denounced the dossier's claims as lies.

The House Intelligence Committee took a different path in putting the question before members in both parties.

This potentially monumental leak of information that could possibly knock Donald Trump out of office; it's highly unlikely, given he's been the only public figure throughout the entirety of the United States and Canada to be accused of sexual assault, without any adverse effects on his election campaign, current presidency, or anything else.

At one point, Simpson said "what we came to realize was that the money was actually coming out of Russian Federation and going into his properties in Florida and NY and Panama and Toronto and these other places".

It's understood that a Russian state-owned bank under USA sanctions helped finance the construction of the president's 65-story Trump International Hotel and Tower in Toronto. "They don't actually make any money", he said.

"Generally speaking, the patterns of activity that we thought might be suggestive of money laundering were, you know, fast turnover deals and deals where there seemed to have been efforts to disguise the identity of the buyer", Simpson added.

"I think Chris-it was someone that Chris Steele knows", was Simpson's answer, though he allowed that he had "met Bruce too through organized crime conferences or something like that".

Dick Durbin of IL , who was one of the lawmakers in the room, asserted on Tuesday that the President did use those words. It is the American dream", Trump said. "I think they talk about DACA, but they don't want to help the DACA people".

"These accusations are completely reckless and unsubstantiated", Mr Garten said.

"They don't, on their face, show Russian involvement, but what they do show is enormous amounts of capital flowing into these projects from unknown sources and - or at least on paper it says it's from The Trump Organization, but it's hundreds of millions of dollars", Simpson said under oath.

Simpson's firm was initially paid for by a conservative website and later by Democrats to dig up dirt on Mr. Trump.

The NRA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Rachel Maddow dissected the explosive and newly released transcript from the Fusion GPS hearing, saying one unique aspect of Glenn Simpson's testimony is how much control the Democrats had over it. The panel's Republican chairman, Chuck Grassley, had not agreed to the release.

Some Republicans critical of Mueller's investigation have said that Steele's dossier triggered the initial probe by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The FBI used the dossier, in part, to obtain a FISA warrant to spy on Trump's team, according to national security reporter Sarah Carter.

Democratic Representative Adam Schiff asked Simpson whether the Russian government knew about Trump's business dealings.
