Broncos WR Carlos Henderson arrested on marijuana charge

CBS4)- A Denver Broncos player has been arrested in Louisiana for possession of marijuana. Officers discovered marijuana near the passenger seat and when searching Henderson's mouth, were able to discover a "thick green residue".

"We are aware of the issue involving Carlos Henderson and are gathering more information", the statement said.

The Broncos selected Henderson in the third round, and he finished the 2017 season on injured reserve. The 82nd pick in last April's draft, Henderson missed his rookie year with a torn thumb ligament. Henderson, 23, projected as a potential starting slot receiver with special teams return skills.

Henderson spent the season healing, and learning the nuances of professional football.

Carlos Henderson was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon when he was initially pulled over for speeding.

Upon approaching the vehicle, detectives with WMPD allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, driven by Alejandra Aviles-Jimenez. Henderson admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day but both he and driver Alexandra Aviles-Jimenez claimed they did not have any marijuana in the vehicle. Additionally, officers found what they thought was a marijuana cigar, or blunt, inside of a water bottle.

According to KNOE 8 News, Henderson was arrested during a traffic stop where he was a passenger in a vehicle.
