US companies urge Congress to help 'Dreamers'

Goodlatte, who serves as the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, unveiled an immigration bill Wednesday afternoon that would also deal with DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, the name of the policy that gave Dreamers legal status.

One person briefed on the meeting said when Durbin brought up the subject of Haiti, Trump questioned it in vulgar terms and added that the USA should get more people from countries like Norway.

On Friday, in an interview, Durbin said negotiations "died yesterday" with the White House.

JOAQUIN CASTRO: We shouldn't trade the lives of 800,000 young people - young DREAMers for a wall across the United States of America.

"We've got to get 60 votes, meaning we've got to get votes on the Republican side and the Democratic side, and the agreement is going to be DACA and some border security elements", he said.

Contreras said that while he is not scheduled for any shifts at his job past October 13, the date his DACA protection is expected to expire, he continues to "breathe positivity".

This week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) attacked a group of Democrat leaders who met with President Trump to discuss a deal on immigration.

He added the USA should bring in more people from countries like Norway.

Dick Durbin - the only Democrat present at the meeting - accused Trump of repeatedly saying "things that were hate-filled, vile, and racist".

Narendra Modi to receive Israel PM at Delhi airport
Israel lobbied for support from countries like India, but Netanyahu said on Wednesday he saw no setback in relations. Both Modi and Netanyahu will visit two centres of excellency in Ahmedabad and inaugurate one.

Although House Speaker Paul Ryan did not go as far as Democrats in criticizing the president, even he acknowledged that the remark from the leader of his party was "unfortunate" and "unhelpful".

Despite not having Trump's sign-off, the bipartisan group negotiating the agreement is pushing forward.

On Thursday night, White House staffers defended their boss's outburst, claiming that he was sending a message of toughness and inflexibility to his political base. That's according to three people who were briefed on the conversation but weren't authorized to describe it publicly.

President Donald Trump is insisting he "never said anything derogatory about Haitians". The proposed deal that the president rejected wasn't broad enough.

The comments revived charges that Trump is racist and roiled the already tenuous immigration talks.

"We have been working for four months and have reached an agreement in principle that addresses border security, the diversity visa lottery, chain migration/family reunification, and the Dream Act-the areas outlined by the President", the group said in a statement. "That's all he cares about".

And then later, when they were talking about the visa lottery, he was told that benefits largely people from African countries, that they benefit from this. "These were the principals talking, without their aides". "Trump set himself up in the room to be the center of that negotiation", the former aide said. That's probably going to be hard.

Into Friday, the news cycle appeared to forget that the meeting was about immigration.

Durbin - who founded the movement to protect DREAMers, youths illegally in the US through no fault of their own - is one of the lead Democratic negotiators. I want a merit based system of immigration and people who will help take our country to the next level. He's also been skeptical about a wall covering the length of the border.
