Security forces dsimantles IED in Srinagar


Improvised Explosive Device was detected near HMT road on the outskirts of Srinagar on Saturday.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for some time in the morning when security forces found the IED at a busy crossing on the periphery of Srinagar. Sniffer dogs were also pressed into service.

Giving details, he said that a patrol party of 44 BN CRPF recovered the IED on the highway around 4 am. The official said the area was cordoned off and traffic was diverted.

The experts of army's Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) were rushed to the spot and they defused the IED, which was weighing 5 kgs.
