The comedian-actor Aziz Ansari, a self-declared feminist has been accused of sexual assault by a NY photographer. The woman, who goes by the name "Grace" provided a graphic account of her experience, which began with meeting Ansari, star of Netflix's Master of None, at the 2017 Emmys and ended with her "crying alone in an Uber".
In an article published by the online publication, Babe, a 23-year-old Brooklyn-based photographer has come forward with details of the alleged incident that took place almost four months ago in New York City. The two initially kissed, but when Grace asked him to " slow down" Aziz instead responded by saying "Where do you want me to f**k you?"
The accusations against actor comes as no surprise considering several big names in Hollywood, ever since the Harvey Weinstein scandal, have been called out for their sexual misconducts in the past. However, Grace has since referred to the date as "the worst night of [her] life". "I'm in a gown, and I walked up to Aziz and said, 'What'd you just shoot with?'" She went on to say, "And absolutely cringe-worthy that he was wearing the Time's Up pin".
The Independent has reached out to Ansari's representatives for comment. When we got back to your place, you ignored clear non-verbal clues; you kept going with advances. All I can say is, it would never be my intention to make you or anyone feel the way you described.
An article in Babe reports the 23-year-old photographer, named only as "Grace" to protect her anonymity, describing in uncomfortable detail an encounter which allegedly took place last year after they met at an Emmy Awards afterparty.
Manchester United confident of winning race to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal
However, Arsene Wenger's side were unable to secure a replacement - Thomas Lemar from Monaco - and the deal for Sanchez collapsed. Wenger also dismissed speculation that he could leave the club himself this summer if Arsenal have another disappointing season.
"I cried the whole ride home", Grace said of her trip back to her apartment.
The following day, Grace allegedly sent Ansari a text message explaining how uncomfortable he had made her the previous night. Clearly, I misread things in the moment and I'm truly sorry. "It was actually painful to watch him win and accept an award".
Ansari was one of the many men who has voiced their support of the #TimesUp movement, which aims to eliminate sexual misconduct, and wore a pin supporting the campaign at this year's Golden Globe awards.
"Aziz Ansari recently won his first Golden Globes for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy for Master of None".
