Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang has said the event will not be helpful in reducing tensions on the Korean peninsula because key regional powers won't be there.

After North Korea tested its most powerful nuclear device yet and launched missiles capable of reaching the U.S., the U.N. Security Council imposed a series of sanctions restricting oil imports and cutting off about 90 percent of its export revenue. Invitations were focused on United Nations Command Sending States that supported South Korea during the Korean War, "of which China was not a part", State Dept. spokeswoman Nicole Thompson said in an email.

On the United States' willingness to engage in dialogue with North Korea, he said that there was some sign of positive interaction between North Korea and the South Korean peninsula which was receiving the great attention of the global community.

China has "closed some sanctions gaps", Brian Hook, director of policy planning for U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, told reporters in Washington on Thursday. A previous proposal submitted by the US attempted to address these concerns by restricting "non-consensual inspections" to merchant ships, and limiting the authorization to apply only "with respect to the current situation in the DPRK".

Falcons lead Eagles 10-9 in 3rd quarter of NFC playoff game
Atlanta has playoff experience and a loaded offense, while Nick Foles has been unimpressive in his final two games of the season. But in the end, he was every bit as efficient as he needed to be to propel the Eagles to the NFL Championship Game next weekend.

Asked whether the United States and North Korea could hold talks during the Olympics, Hook said, "No". "Should the United States and its followers try to enforce the naval blockade against our country, we will see it as an act of war and respond with merciless self-defensive counter-measures as we have warned repeatedly", a government-controlled media outlet said.

While China has rejected calls from past presidents to do more, Beijing is starting to go along with US initiatives to put pressure on North Korea, even accepting USA demands for restrictions on oil exports to the North.

"I have relationships with people".
