Hyundai has revealed that its new hydrogen-powered SUV will be called Nexo and pack semi-autonomous driving systems.

Also the auto can recognize pedestrians.

Hydrogen refuelling infrastructure is now spartan in Australia, with only one station based at HMCA's headquarters in Macquarie Park, Sydney, which was built for the single imported ix35 Fuel Cell. The new Nexo is a sports utility vehicle that uses artificial intelligence, voice commands, and is capable of being transformed into an unmanned or autonomous auto.

Hyundai claims the Nexo will go up to 370 miles between charges, taking just five minutes to charge up.

Last but not the least, the Nexo will be equipped with a remote start parking assistant, which will allow the fuel cell crossover to park and retrieve itself even without a driver inside.

Despite the uncertainty regarding the long-term viability of hydrogen, especially as improvements in battery technology are seeing range increases for electric cars accelerate, Hyundai sees a future for the fuel. Nexo features a voice command system, artificial intelligence, and can be switched into an autonomous vehicle. Hyundai previewed the model with the FE Fuel Cell concept at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show, and thankfully the production version keeps numerous concept's futuristic lines.

The powertrain is lighter and has improved packaging and there are now three improved hydrogen storage tanks. The Tucson Fuel Cell is now offered at $499 per month on a 36-month lease (with $2,999 due up front), but this is only in a few select areas of California. At full fuel Nexo Fuel Cell will be able to cover a distance of 595 km.

Like the Tucson FCEV, expect the new hydrogen fuel cell-powered Nexo to be available in select markets where hydrogen fuel refilling stations are available. Aside from California, the auto will most likely be available in South Korea, Australia, and a number of European countries. Hyundai will make NEXO its flagship clean vehicle, highlighting the company's ongoing plan to become more environmentally friendly and embrace clean energy.

If you had the chance, would you try a Hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicle?

We only know that the 1st market will be American.
