Three jawans falls from chopper during practice drill ahead of Army Day

According to reports, the injured soldiers were part of the parade that will be held at Army Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment.

In a freak accident, three army soldiers fell from a chopper after the rope they were using to slither down snapped.

Check Out video which is going viral on social media which shows the jawans sliding down on a rope tied to the chopper.

A Dhruv twin-engine helicopter flew the soldiers to the designated "drop" zone and as three soldiers slithered down the rope dangling from the helicopter the boom supporting the rope reportedly developed snag. The slithering operations, which involve troops slipping down a rope usually from a helicopter, is a method used to drop troops in an area of action when a chopper cannot land.

Confirming that the soldiers did not suffer serious injuries, the Army officials added that no slithering operations will be performed on the upcoming Army Day.

Sources added that as a matter of protocol, all slithering operations from the ALH Dhruv will remain suspended till a probe in the incident is completed. An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain how the accident took place.

Army Day is observed on 15 January every year to honour Lieutenant General KM Kariappa, who took over as the first commander-in-chief of the Indian Army on this day.
