Rafa Benitez says Newcastle talking with agents over transfers

Benitez has become used to missing out on some of his top targets at Newcastle, with their track record in the transfer window not encouraging.

"Swansea also need new players but I don't know who they will be able to sign that could make a difference and, from the sounds of it, neither does their new manager Carlos Carvalhal".

Newcastle failed to sign the likes of Tammy Abraham and Andre Gray in the summer transfer window, but at least the pair did move on to fellow Premier League clubs. "If I am waiting for players to come, and it is very hard to bring the players that you want, then you can not sell the players that are already playing and - more or less - doing well".

"It is a good ground, but we must look at this game and this situation as an opportunity for the players to show their abilities, their quality". If some players leave, it's because we have a replacement.

"But the others? We can not sell them because the others are already playing".

Brazilian Ronaldo: Neymar Has Taken A Step Backwards
Ronaldo believes that his decision to play for PSG was a bad move for his career. PSG are back in action against Claudio Ranieri's Nantes in Ligue 1 on Sunday .

"We have until the 31st of January and I am confident that we will do what we have to do", he said. We have had some people asking but nothing serious and no offers on any of our players.

"We have to work with the names that we have and we have to try and do our best in the conditions we are working in".

Newcastle are 13th in the division ahead of this afternoon's home game against basement club Swansea City. But if they talk about loans we are not interested because we need them.

He said: "It is a team that has a new manager and is doing well".

We are now in the 12th day of the January transfer window and no action so far. They look quite organised, disciplined in defence and hard to breakdown. It is very hard to create chances against them.
