Nintendo got to show off Dark Souls: Remastered first for a reason

Although it is not a new entry into the series, the remaster will bring a lot of updates and quality of life changes for the current generation of consoles.

You can think of Dragon Quest Builders as a story-driven Minecraft with the quirky characters, monsters and excellent music which the Dragon Quest series is renowned for.

Pokken Tournament DX received several new characters who were originally exclusive to the arcade version including Darkrai and Empoleon. The first wave lands in January, with a second in March. Players can also use the Joy-Con controllers to try combat in an all-new way, though the Direct Mini didn't share details on how that mechanic would work. Not only has From Software given fans what they wanted, such as more weapons and spells, but they have also added a new faction system that goes above and beyond the scope of Demon's Souls.

This is just one in a slew of positive news coming for the Nintendo Switch console with it also having recently outsold both its competitors, Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox One, in December past year in the United States.

Another Wii U game, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, will come to Switch on May 4.

While I'll probably end up replaying Dark Souls: Remastered on PC to get the maximum effect of the redone art, it's nice to know that Nintendo is looking to court games and developers generally preferred by more hardcore types.

10 years after the original release, The World Ends With You: Final Remix is coming to Nintendo Switch later this year.
