Detective Pikachu Game Coming to US

Share

"Detective Pikachu includes all the chapters of the 2016 Japan-exclusive Nintendo eShop release, Detective Pikachu - Birth of a New Duo, but adds further content that completes the story".

Oh, one last thing: you don't actually play as Detective Pikachu in the game, you play as his new human friend "Tim Goodman" (which sounds like an alias if I've ever heard one). This coffee-slurping, gun-shooting version of Pikachu is helping a boy named Tim find his father. The Detective Pikachu amiibo figure will be available at a suggested retail price of $29.99. The film's script will be written by Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman and it will be co-written by Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch. Players talk to witnesses, obtain clues and work with other Pokémon to crack the case. We've only been clamoring for some investigative hijinks with the most popular Pokémon around since the game was originally announced, after all. Along with the Detective Pikachu game, Nintendo is releasing a special giant amiibo to help players uncover every secret. And while Ryan Reynolds will provide Detective Pikachu's voice in the upcoming movie, we kind of prefer his gruff voice in this trailer.

Detective Pikachu

The first official English trailer was released alongside Detective Pikachu's recent announcement. There's also a joke about how an intelligent Pikachu likely wouldn't take being ordered around by a trainer very well, and who knows what other jokes will be had at his expense.

Detective Pikachu comes to a 3DS near you on March 23.
