Chelsea Manning To Run For US Senate In Maryland

Chelsea Manning has filed to run for the senate in Maryland in a challenge to Sen.

Manning declared her intentions January 5 with the Federal Election Commission, which posted the document on its website Thursday.

Ms Manning, a former intelligence expert previously known as Bradley Manning, was released from military prison in 2017 after Barack Obama waived her sentence. Manning came out as a transgender woman in 2013. "It is a remarkable gift to the world that Chelsea will be able to grow and fight alongside us for justice".

Democratic Senator Ben Cardin was elected in 2006 to that seat and is expected to run for re-election this year.

Manning was convicted of leaking classified information and spent more than six years behind bars. She was convicted by court-martial in 2013 of espionage and other offenses for furnishing more than 700,000 documents, videos and diplomatic cables to WikiLeaks, an worldwide organization that publishes information from anonymous sources.

He had also raised concern over "disinformation" being spread through social media, and through religious schools and mosques. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said that India may test Pakistan's resolve if that is what it wishes to do.

When the military denied Manning's request for hormones, Manning tried to commit suicide twice.

Manning has been active in advocating for LGBT and other causes since being released earlier this year.

"F**k the police", Manning tweeted, adding various emojis, including a gun and a police auto, as well as the hashtag "disarm the police".

Manning also tweeted: "The worst armed criminals wear uniforms and carry shiny pieces of metal".
