Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 may launch with Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC

Preliminary reports indicated that Xiaomi has no plans to launch the Redmi Note 5. It's no surprising, then, that expectations are riding high on its successor, the Redmi Note 5.

In terms of OS, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is likely to run Android 7.1 Nougat wrapped over company's MIUI 9 custom UI. The screen-to-body ratio on the Redmi Note 5 might perhaps be slightly higher than the Redmi 5 Plus, although this hasn't been confirmed just yet. The phones haven't launched internationally yet, but this week, a MIUI moderator said that the Redmi 5 Plus would take the place of the rumored Redmi Note 5 in some markets. It's reportedly being tested internally for a release in Q2 2018, but faces delays because of supply issues with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 632 system-on-chip.

According to MySmartPrice, the launch of the smartphone has been slightly delayed as Xiaomi is waiting for Qualcomm to release the octa-core Snapdragon 632 SoC, a minor downgrade over the Snapdragon 636 chipset that was announced in October previous year.

The Snapdragon 632 SoC is said to come with a lower clock frequency and a lower-clocked GPU.

As we have already seen the 18:9 aspect ratio display on the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, the same applies here.
