Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons accused of rape by four women

Four women spoke to the NYT, with three of them saying that Simmons raped them. The accusations, laid out in major exposés in the Los Angeles Times and New York Times, span a time period of 33 years. Today (Dec. 13), the Hip-Hop mogul was accused by 9 more women of sexual misconduct including harassment and rape.

In addition, two former employees at his TANTRIS yoga studio said that the business had a "sexually-charged and tense atmosphere" in which SIMMONS pursued women at the studio.

Baker said she later returned to his apartment, as she was contractually bound to work with him, and the mogul allegedly exposed himself to her, causing her to flee. It came in 1995 when she executive produced a soundtrack for the music documentary The Show, featuring Tupac and A Tribe Called Quest, but while out celebrating the album's platinum success she said she let her guard down and entered Simmons' apartment. She left the company soon after. He raped her, she said, and a year later attacked her at a music conference in South Florida. She ran into Simmons at a club where he invited her back to his apartment to go over her career.

After taking her to a hot yoga class in 1996, How to Be a Player actress Natashia Williams-Blach says the entrepreneur tried to force her to perform oral sex on him. "I didn't sing for nearly a year", Baker was quoted as saying. They briefly dated and in 1988, she recalled that he invited her to a party in his apartment, but was the only one there when she arrived. But when she got there the place was empty. "He pushed me on the bed and jumped on top of me, and physically attacked me", Sallie tells the NY Times.

In a detailed reported article in the Times, the stories of the women are delivered in harrowing detail. Beattie told the paper that she stayed in the room only after Simmons agreed to no sexual contact. Moore says she and her friend ran into Simmons in an elevator and after admitting to being lost, Simmons said he knew where to go. She said that Simmons put his hands all over her, pinned her against the wall, and said he wanted to tie her up. She wrote that he then forced himself on her sexually and Simmons actually did respond to her claims with an apology. "While I have never been violent, I have been thoughtless and insensitive in some of my relationships over many decades and I sincerely and humbly apologize", he said at the time. Simmons released a statement in response to what he described as "these horrific accusations", insisting that all his relations have been consensual. "I have enormous respect for the women's movement worldwide and their struggle for respect, dignity, equality and power".

Last month, Russell Simmons faced sexual assault accusations from Keri Claussen Khalighi and writer Jenny Lumet.

Four more women have come forward to accuse music producer Russell Simmons of sexual assault. He raped her, said Sallie. (According to his lawyer's statement to the Times, Simmons "emphatically states that he did not have sex with" Dixon.) She reportedly sued Simmons for sexual harassment after leaving Def Jam.

He continued, "In recent weeks, some former business, creative and romantic partners have aired grievances as claims I categorically reject". He says further, "I will relentlessly fight against any untruthful character assassination that paints me as a man of violence", and claims he's being extorted.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times followed with a rape allegation from Sherri Hines dating back to 1983. The presumption of innocent until proven guilty must not be replaced by "Guilty by Accusation". What I will not accept is responsibility for what I have not done. "As for me, I will step aside and commit myself to continuing my personal growth, spiritual learning and above all to listening". But I can't leave those women twisting in the wind.
