According to a report by Nerdist, the second one is Planet of the Symbiotes, a five-issue event from 1995 in which Eddie Brock questions his role as Venom as he is being curious about the superpower when he wears the symbiote suit. As expected, details on Harrelson's character are essentially nonexistent at this point, though sources close to TheWrap have indicated that he will portray a "henchman of sorts". "Zombieland" director Ruben Fleischer is at the helm, while "Fifty Shades of Grey" scriptwriter Kelly Marcel, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg ("Jumanji") are all signed up for writing duties. Sony did not comment on Harrelson's involvement when it was initially announced.
"Gifted" actress Jenny Slate and "Manchester by the Sea" star Michelle Williams are also on board for undisclosed roles. The "Peaky Blinders" actor also revealed that the film will be set in San Francisco and further stressed that "Venom" will be an important installment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. Though no footage or images were shown from the film, Sony also brought details about their Spider-Man spinoff Venom, starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing along with Amy Pascal, with Palak Patel and Eric Fineman overseeing for Columbia Pictures.
