Israel strikes Gaza after rocket fire

The city of Jerusalem is claimed by both Israelis and Palestinians as their capital, though the global community doesn't recognize either of these claims and all foreign embassies to Israel are located in Tel Aviv.

"The IDF struck two terror targets in Gaza in response to rocket fire from the northern Gaza Strip that landed in Israeli territory and to an earlier launch that landed within the Gaza Strip", an IDF spokesman said. There were no casualties.

The Israel Defense Forces carried out strikes against Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening.

Israel holds Hamas responsible for all activity happening in the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces clashed with protesters, resulting in more than 100 injuries, according to Palestine Red Cross numbers reported by The Washington Post.

The Hamas leader also called for strong unity among all Palestinian factions, and "for a unified stance to counter this oppression and aggression".
