The day commemorates the attack by on a USA naval base on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, by the Imperial Japanese Navy and honors the 2,000 American sailors, soldiers, and Marines who lost their lives in the battle.

Six World War II veterans shared their stories about serving with a group of students from Vanguard College Preparatory school on Pearl Harbor Day.

Sam Brownback ordered flags lowered from sunrise to sunset on December 7 in honor of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The Palm Springs Air Museum has a number of artifacts related to Pearl Harbor as well as warplanes from that era.
