Quake of 5.0 Magnitude Shakes Uttarakhand, Delhi, NCR, Punjab

A moderate quake hit India's northern state of Uttarakhand on Wednesday, officials said.

The epicentre was Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).

As per reports, soon after the quake people evacuated their buildings to safer ground.

Tremors were felt in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and parts of Punjab.

However, reports are coming that the impact of the natural disaster was not so remarkable even many have not felt it. Dehradun reports suggested no casualties.

According to the Centre for Seismology, an natural disaster of 5.5 magnitude was reported in Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand.

"I came out of the house after I realized everything is trembling", Atul Kumar, a local resident in New Delhi's Green Park told Xinhua.
