Prediction: Liverpool vs Spartak Moscow

Speaking ahead of his side's Champions League meeting with Spartak Moscow, Klopp admitted it was impossible to predict what would happen when the winter transfer window opens.

Liverpool take on APOEL in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday before taking on Everton in the Merseyside derby.

"First of all, there is absolutely no reason to think about that; I can not think before each game about a 3-0 lead and then that the other team will come back", Klopp stated.

"Spartak could say the same as they gave away four points against Maribor so they would be in a different situation".

Joel Matip was absent for Saturday's 5-1 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion having picked up a knock during the midweek win over Stoke City, with Liverpool playing a makeshift back three of Dejan Lovren, Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum as a result.

A draw is enough for Liverpool, who top Group E by a point, to progress at Anfield. Kombarov joins Jano Ananidze, Artem Timofeev and Georgi Tigiyev on the list of players who are also sidelined.

The Reds are unbeaten in their last seven Champions League games - although five of those have ended with draws.

Spartak have only win six of their last 40 Champions League games, drawing eight and losing 26.

Already with 12 Premier League goals this year, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is the top scorer in England and the Egyptian has a further four goals in this year's Champions League.

Spartak have only kept one clean sheet in their last 15 games in this competition.

Spartak have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League only once in their 11 previous appearances - in 1995-96.
