Matthews hurt, out for remainder of Packers-Ravens game

It's been a while since Baltimore has been this good in keeping opponents off the scoreboard.

Baltimore last accomplished the feat when the Ray Lewis-led defense had four shutouts for the Super Bowl-winning team in 2000; the last National Football League team to have three was New England in 2003. The victory in Chicago marked the first of Brett Hundley's tenure as starting quarterback, as well as the third-year signal caller's most promising performance to date.

From 2001 to 2016, the Ravens fell outside of the top 10 in rushing defense just four times. "That's about as good as you can play on defense". Terrell Suggs, Matthew Judon and Willie Henry each had two sacks apiece. But leave it to Suggs to add some perspective to the defense's feel-good day. We can still make it there.

It's been a rollercoaster ride but the Ravens aren't a team you want to see in January, if they make it there.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco wasn't spectacular, but he did complete 22 of 28 passes for 183 yards with one touchdown (a one-handed 21-yard catch by a well-covered Mike Wallace) and an interception.

Injured Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers remains on injured reserve, recovering from collarbone surgery.

Rodgers and the Packers have made it clear the injury could be season ending.

Hundley didn't fare any better on Sunday.

NOTES: Packers WR Jordy Nelson moved into third place on the team's all-time receptions list with a first-series catch.

Rose is in a protective walking boot and will have his balky ankle immobilized for the next week, per the Cavs' NBA.com site . He averaged 7.5 points per game last season and has never posted double-digit scoring figures for a season in his career.

Green Bay held Alex Collins, who entered the game ranked third in yards per carry, to a 2.5-yard average.

It's that type of "won't be denied" play that has been missing from an offense that has consistently struggled to get into the end zone.

There was a time when Matthews was one of the most feared defensive players in the National Football League, but he has declined in recent years. The Packers (5-5) have lost four of their past five games.

The Ravens have 106 yards, while the Packers have 127. But the Packers still had chances to score, and the Ravens thwarted every one of them. But turnovers sapped any momentum.

"We definitely didn't do enough", linebacker Blake Martinez said. "But we just couldn't get it going on offense".

It's the sound special teams led by Justin Tucker, who has now connected on 15 of his last 16 field-goal attempts after making all three of his kicks against the Packers.

Williams ran hard, broke tackle after tackle, and powered for 67 yards on 20 carries (3.4). The Packers had another turnover overturned on replay. Callahan has spent parts of two seasons with Green Bay. Packers OLB Clay Matthews recorded his first sack since Week 4, but suffered a groin injury and did not return.

The Patriots' defensive coordinator back then? "We need to go after it", Flacco said last week. One of the biggest plays of the game was cornerback Jimmy Smith's interception in the end zone on the Packers' opening drive, which until that point had been surprisingly effective, with quarterback Brett Hundley moving the Packers to the Ravens' 5-yard line in five plays.

The Packers are on the road for three of its next four games starting with the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Sunday night, November 26.
