Peter Kay announces FIVE extra North East dates due to phenomenal demand

Peter Kay's Car Share is to return next year.

Kay had previously said that there would be no more episodes, but he made the surprise announcement alongside co-star Sian Gibson live during BBC Children in Need on Friday evening.

Peter Kay has added another five Sheffield dates to his first tour in eight years due to "phenomenal demand" - bringing his total number of scheduled tour performances in the city up to seven.

The show will return for two special episodes, including a finale.

Kay said he wanted to "quit while you're ahead" after series two ended earlier this year.

Series two ended on a cliffhanger earlier this year, when it appeared that Gibson's character Kayleigh stepped out of John's (Kay's) vehicle and his life forever.

He also said that an officer dropped the former model, Rashmi Shahbazker, at her house in Bandra after she filed the complaint. Police said that a notice was issued to her husband. "My husband brainwashed my son and is not allowing me to even touch him".

It will follow Car Show Unscripted, an improvised episode.

The finale episode will conclude a repeat of the second series and reveal just what happens next to John & Kayleigh.

"We've also done another episode called Car Share Unscripted, which is half an hour of us basically making the script up and improvising".

Tickets for all seven shows are on sale now, but people have been warned there will be no in person tickets sales available from the venue box office for this show.

"There's only so much you can do in a vehicle and the last thing you want to do is ruin it, because I think it's a lovely thing", he said.

The Bafta award-winning writer and actor, who won critical acclaim for his TV series Car Share, will be back on stage for the first time since his record-breaking tour in 2010.
