Federer stunned by Goffin at ATP Finals

The season-ending extravaganza ATP Finals ends another memorable year which will be covered via our website www.skysports.com/tennis with live blogs, reports, reaction and expert analysis as the season reaches its climax.

Goffin had never beaten Nadal and was 0-6 against Federer. He pushed, chanced the angles, flirted with the lines, and in the second game of the second set, he threaded the needle in his first breakpoint opportunity of the match and then swept to a 3-0 lead. He was really aggressive, as always.

A double fault from Goffin at game point at 2-1 looked to have cost Goffin, but he turned it back around to lead 3-1.

In the final, Goffin will meet Grigor Dimitrov who outlasted Jack Sock 4-6, 6-0, 6-3.

The Swiss broke again in the fifth game before serving out the set in the eighth after 33-minutes of action. At 3-0 in the second set, Goffin was digging his heels into the game.

Sock, who saved four match points against Dimitrov in Indian Wells and one in Montreal two years ago, before going on to win on both occasions, saved three more, but at the fourth time of asking the Bulgarian wasn't to be denied. "Against Roger, it was such a special moment, I can not describe", Goffin said after the match.

Georgia-Georgia Tech kickoff time announced
From there, the Cats did what they could to get back into the game while Georgia coasted to their tenth victory of the season. Georgia (10-1, 7-1 SEC) finished unbeaten at home for the first time since 2012 and just the fifth time since 1982.

Both players stepped out onto court with an air of confidence, but it was Dimitrov who took the early lead, breaking Sock in the second, much to the young American's visible frustration. "Of course, it's not going to be the same after I played against him..."

"Shouldn't have been here in the first place", he said.

And he continued his surge in the first to break for 5-4 and see out the set in style.

The 26-year-old won seven games in a row before Sock finally stopped the rot in what was turning into a tight and tense final set. And he did just that, even battling back from a 5-1 third-set deficit against Kyle Edmund in his first match. "I had I think multiple game chances to get out of the game and go 1-1, keep the pressure up", said Federer.

On his previous encounter with Goffin earlier this week, Dimitrov said: "I wish I could just press "replay". However, Goffin went against the odds and proved everyone wrong as he was clutch on the important points to reach the biggest final of his career, being the first person from his country to reach the final of the year-ending Championships.

It is a close one to call, and putting aside the drubbing that Dimitrov gave Goffin in the group stages.
