Massillon police say a gunman shot a doctor, then himself in a parking lot at Affinity Medical Center on Monday.
"He would have been nearly right up on top of him", Moser said. Both were pronounced dead inside the hospital Monday.
Seese, who according to his bio did his undergraduate work at YSU, was confronted at his auto by Michael Wood, who was carrying a handgun.
Courtney Hillard, a patient at the hospital, was waiting in the emergency room when an alarm went off, indicating an active shooter was outside the building. Police have confirmed at least six spent rounds were found in the parking lot.
Travel Ban Goes Partially Into Effect
The Trump administration had unveiled its third travel ban on September 24 after U.S. courts blocked the first two. The second one expired in September after a long court fight and was replaced with another revised version.
He is survived by his 13 children ranging from ages five to 32. Police noted he was affiliated with the Massillon medical center where the shooting occurred but that his practice was in Perry Township.
Area schools and the hospital were temporarily placed on lockdown as authorities worked to determine the motive in the case.
The Associated Press reported that Seese was the medical director of the Stark Medical Specialties Noninvasive Cardiovascular Lab at the hospital, and also had a medical office. The school district issued this statement on social media yesterday: "The safety of our students and staff is always our number one priority". They hid behind a bed until about 3 p.m. when they were told it was safe to come out. In no circumstance were any of our students or staff in jeopardy. "Again, the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority".
