Children shot an Northern California elementary school

The Tehama County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened near an elementary school in Rancho Tehama around 8:00 AM local time.

Three people are dead and two others wounded after a shooting at a school on Tuesday.

Authorities say the school has now been cleared and the children moved to a safe location. The shooter was shot & killed by police.

The gunman was shot and killed by law enforcement officers according to Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston.

A 6-year-old and another child are among the injured.

Several children have been transported to the hospital.

An official at the Corning Elementary School District confirmed the elementary school in Rancho Tehama is on lockdown.

Police are investigating at least five crime scenes. There are now 100 law enforcement personnel on scene.
