Authorities announce the arrest of Ronald Cook

As a Level 3 sex offender, Cook is considered at a high risk of committing another offense.

According to the notice, 66-year-old Ronald Cook of Utica appears to have cut off his Global Positioning System ankle bracelet yesterday, and he stopped reporting to his assigned parole officer.

Authorities said Cook was arrested in Binghamton late, Saturday afternoon and is being held at the Broome County Jail as parole violator. He was wearing a bright yellow windbreaker jacket, but was seen in Pennsylvania wearing a dark colored jacket, investigators said.

The New York State Department of Corrections & Community Supervision is warning the public of a convicted Rapist who violated his strict and intensive supervision on the loose. He has gray hair, hazel eyes and needs corrective lenses.

Cook became a wanted man after officials said he cut off his ankle bracelet and fled his Utica home Wednesday.

According to state records, Cook was convicted in 1991 of raping a 24-year-old woman in Binghamton. He is a registered Level 3 sex offender.

Cook is considered to be unsafe, and if you see him, call 911.
