November 9, 2017 (EIRNS)-Contrary to the the Saudi contention (unfortunately endorsed by the White House) that the November 4 attempted ballistic missile attack on Riyadh from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen was an escalation by Iran, the reality is that it is the Saudis who are committing crimes against the civilian population in Yemen.

Residents said the first airstrike hit the compound of the defence ministry late night of Friday, and minutes later the second airstrike hit the residential quarter just few meters east of the ministry building. My entire house shook'.

A number of houses were also reportedly damaged in the strike. The casualty toll could rise as rescuers search through the rubble for survivors.

The coalition has yet defeated the Yemeni rebels despite thousands of Saudi-led airstrikes against Houthis.

The rebels have threatened additional attacks on Saudi Arabia and its coalition partner the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in response to the blockade. "It will be the largest starvation the world has seen for many decades, with millions of victims".

The world body has listed Yemen as the world's number one humanitarian crisis, with 17 million people in need of food, seven million of whom are at risk of starvation.

The blockade has already impacted millions, with malnutrition now common across the country, particularly in the north, and upwards of a million people coming down with cholera in the worst outbreak in human history, which killed over 2,000 people alone.

Yemen has been immersed in a violent conflict between President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi's government and the Houthi Shia movement.

Yemen's defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for more than two and half years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.
