That was likely a fracture-dislocation of Gordon Hayward's ankle.

The Cavs' subsequent deal with Boston brought Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas to Cleveland to join James and two other new additions in former NBA Most Valuable Player Derrick Rose and veteran guard Dwyane Wade. A hush fell over the Cavaliers arena as Hayward lay on the floor with his leg bent severely.

He signed a four-year, $127million contract. He immediately yelled in pain as his ankle was obviously broken.

Both players and fans looked shocked as Hayward was carted off the court.

As Hayward's air cast was put on and he was being taken to the locker room, LeBron James walked over to offer up words to Hayward, along with Dwyane Wade, and Kevin Love.

Now, they could be without Hayward for an extended period. On Tuesday night's season opener on TNT, the Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the Boston Celtics in a match up featuring the return of Kyrie Irving to his old city & team.

The atmosphere was electric in Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena arena as last season's beaten National Basketball Association finalists hosted the new-look Boston Celtics in a heavyweight showdown to signal the return of the National Basketball Association regular season.
