Lisa Wilkinson confirmed the news on Monday night saying she had appeared on the morning TV show for the final time.
A short time later, she revealed she had signed on as a host of Channel 10's The Project, in a deal that will reportedly make her the highest paid woman on Australian television.
"Certainly from my perspective, it has been an enormous, tremendous privilege to share a part of Lisa's Today Show chapter and above all it is a tremendous privilege to share a attractive friendship with her and I know that will continue for a very long time to come", Sylvia said.

While Nine reportedly offered Ms Wilkinson $1.8 million, it didn't stop her departure.
"Most particularly though I want to thank the Today Show audience who have been so supportive and incredibly loyal to me over the last decade", she wrote.

The contract talks between the two parties were reported to have been "abruptly terminated" on Monday during a hastily arranged meeting in which "the Nine boss decided not to renew Wilkinson's contract which expires at the end of the year", The Daily Telegraph said.
